What is LEED?
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.
LEED essentially is a certification process where a project attains “points” through several categories including energy efficiency, water usage, air quality, etc. Based on the number of points achieved, a project earns one of four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings.

Message from Owner
I had my first exposure to LEED when my family and I built a new house in a suburb of Cincinnati and chose to make the house a LEED Platinum project. After about an 11 month construction period, we achieved our goal (with a point or two to spare) and now own our dream home that is not only has a minimal impact on the environment, but also saves us money in lower monthly energy costs and property tax abatements.
I became fascinated with the LEED process and wondered why everyone is not familiar with LEED and utilizing the benefits on not only residential projects but commercial projects too. Building a LEED certified building not only can lower your energy costs and gain you valuable tax abatements, but also are better for the building occupants, can lead to faster lease up rates and higher resale value and can enhance your brand and show your company is a leader in green building.
